MINUTES REVIEW AND APPROVAL

Minutes of the September 17, 2015 meeting minutes were reviewed. Denise Cox made a motion to approve the minutes as written. Matt Johnson seconded the motion, which was passed by unanimous vote (4-0).

FOLLOW UP/REPORT ON VOLUNTEER PROJECTS

Greg Gunnell reported 20 water bars are being installed at the Rockwood Trailhead to help control erosion. This project was planned by Braydon Ferland for his Eagle Scout Project. The project began last Saturday, and will be completed on October 24th.

Mikael Remington reported a Boy Scout contacted him who wants to do his Eagle Scout Project by stenciling bike signs in bike lanes, but he is too busy with school at this time.  It was agreed this project will be given to another Boy Scout who is ready for a project.

Denise Cox reported she walked the Ford Canyon Trail recently, and there is a small area of foliage that needs to be trimmed.  This would be a good project for a small volunteer group.

REPORT ON SRTS GRANT APPLICATION

Bruce Cox, Parks and Recreation Director, reported on the Safe Routes To School Grant from the State that he applied for. This grant will provide funding to UDOT to install sidewalks or painting of bike lanes that are on school routes to make it safer for children going to school.

Mr. Cox researched this grant, and all of the schools in Centerville are on roads that would qualify for this grant. If Centerville receives the grant, bike lanes would be painted on Main Street, along with  Share the Road signs would be installed.  The City will be notified on December 4th if they received the grant.

BONNEVILLE SHORELINE RACE

Mikael Remington met with Jake Browning who is the director of the Ragnar Relay Race. Mr. Remington discussed with Mr. Browning the possibility of working together to do a race along the Bonneville Shoreline sometime in the spring. Mr. Remington will also talk with the Bonneville Shoreline Race Committee to see if they are willing to combine their race with the Trails Committee race.

At 8:25 p.m., Matt Johnson arrived at the meeting.

The Committee set tentative dates of April 16th or 23rd for this activity. Committee members were asked to come prepared to the next meeting to plan this activity. A representative from the Bonneville Shoreline Race Committee will be asked to attend the next Trails Committee meeting.

OTHER BUSINESS

The water well on the Haddad property is not producing enough water, and Mr. Haddad will be connecting a water line to the water tank near his property. He will also install a generator to pump the water to his home.

Denise Cox reported she will start a list of accomplishments the Committee has done for the year 2015 and email it to the Committee members.  This list will be used to help prepare activities for 2016.

NEXT MEETING

The next Trails Committee meeting will be held on Thursday, November 19th at 8:00 p.m. in the City Hall Administrative Conference Room.

ADJOURN

At 8:45 p.m., the meeting was adjourned.
