·  Does Centerville City provide a list for Eagle Scout projects?

No. Scouts are encouraged to be creative and develop a project that would be beneficial or useful in the community. We would be happy to meet with them to discuss ideas, to help provide direction, assistance, or determine the feasibility of their project. Appointments can be made with Randy Randall, Public Works Director, or Bruce Cox, Parks Supervisor (295-8232) for more information or assistance.

In rear yard areas, all accessory buildings must be setback a minimum of three feet from any property line, six feet from any other structure, must not be higher than 25 feet, and must not occupy more than 20% of the total rear yard area. Contact Community development 292-8232.

·  Who provides fire protection, and how is it paid for?

Centerville is a member of the South Davis Metro Fire Agency. This agency provides services to Bountiful, West Bountiful, North Salt Lake, Woods Cross, and some of Davis County. The City pays annual amount to the Agency for services from general tax revenues.

Paint is considered a hazardous material and cannot be place in your container for general disposal. The landfill in Layton has a drop off area for these materials.

·  What is the sales tax?

The general sales tax is 6.5% except for unprepared food. For the definition of unprepared food it is best to contact the Utah State Tax Commission.

The local option (the tax that comes to the City) portion of the sales tax is 1%

In residential areas only multiple family developments have regulations regarding dumpster locations.

The Davis County Health department has jurisdiction for health issues in Davis County.

·  Is there a restriction on fence height or materials in Zone R-L? Is there a fence setback minimum from the front edge of the property?

There are no restrictions for construction materials, unless specifically required when a subdivision was approved. Fences may be located on property lines and cannot exceed six feet in height in the rear and side yards. Front yard cannot exceed four feet. The Centerville City Municipal Code is provided on this site for informational purposes only. Municipal Codes are subject to periodic changes by the City Council and are effective on the date of the ordinance amending the Code. Updates may not be posted on this site for a period of time after amendments are made. Information on this site should not be relied upon as current applicable Codes. If you need copies or have questions, please contact the Recorder's office at 295-3477.

There is no overnight parking on City streets from November 15 to April 15.

Not at this time.

You need to check with the South Davis Metro Fire Agency about burning in the City. 677-2400. Professional stump removal companies are also availalble in the area, although at a cost.

·  Does the city require residents to register or obtain a license to keep a dog as a pet? If so, how do I do this and what are the fees?

Under Davis County Animal Control Ordinance Chapter 6.12.010, it is unlawful for any person to own, kep, harbor or maintain a dog over the age of four months without registering and obtaining a license for such dogs from the Animal Control Department or authorized vendor. Please call Animal Control at 801-444-2200 for information regarding fees.

After May 2009, the recycling program is mandatory. In a case of financial hardship, a letter may be sent to the Mayor requesting an exemption.

·  Where do the city boundaries end on both the east and west sides of Centerville?

To the east, it is roughly the develped areas, except at the undeveloped northern area and south of 200 south. Above the developed area, through the "bowl" and the gun range is Centerville.

·  When is the Annual Green Waste Pickup scheduled?

Centerville City has scheduled it's 3rd Annual Green Waste Pick Up starting April 12, 2010.

Residents of Centerville may also deliver clean green waste to the green waste recycling facility at the Bountiful landfill. Call 801-298-6169 for location. Centerville residents will be charged the same rate as Bountiful residents for the service, which is $3.00 per truck load. This is for recycling of green waste only. Centerville residents may not dispose of anything other refuse.
